About The Upper Delaware Preservation Coalition

All of us live within the Delaware River Corridor.  Most of us are directly affected by changes bringing serious degradation to our environment and the place we live.  We collectively recognized these problems and set out to do something about it.  The result is the Upper Delaware Preservation Coalition.

The Upper Delaware Preservation Coalition is made up of individuals from many of the towns located along the Delaware River on both the New York and Pennsylvannia side of the Upper Delaware. We believe in preserving the Delaware River Valley for future generations while developing thriving businesses and communities in accordance with the Upper Delaware Council River Management Plan.

Some of the serious issues the Upper Delaware Valley is currently facing include the construction of high voltage powerlines along the river, clear cutting of the ridges along the Delaware Valley, and very large inappropriate housing developments within view of the Delaware River.

The drama of the Delaware makes a profound, personal connection.  It flows through time itself, with powerful changes in mood and aesthetic:  languid summer afternoons, morning mists, boiling rapids, and the highwater icepacks of winter.  A river so generous with natural beauty should never be exploited.
